Buildings across the area are taking part in Scotland’s Doors Open Days festival.

The festival offers free access to over 1000 venues across the country throughout September every year.

Among the buildings taking part are: B-listed Blair Drummond House’s garden terrace; Carbeth hutters community, whose huts date back to the time of the First World War; Kippen Parish Church; Kippen Smiddy; Mugdock Castle; Old Auchentroi­g, Buchlyvie; St Andrew’s Scottish Episcopal Church, Callander; and St Mary’s Scottish Episcopal Church, Aberfoyle.

Others taking part in the festival include: Allan’s Primary School bastion, an unusual beehive bastion from the 1500s; Bannockbur­n House, the A-listed 17th century listed mansion now being restored by trustees; Cambuskenn­eth Abbey tower; Church of the Holy Rude; Cowane’s Hospital; Iris Murdoch Building, home of the Dementia Services Developmen­t Centre at Stirling University; Leighton Library, Dunblane; Logie Old Kirk; Macrobert Arts Centre; St Columba’s Church, Stirling; St Ninian’s Kirk; Stirling Community Fire Station; Stirling Old High School observator­y and telescope; Stirling Sheriff Court; Stirling Tolbooth; Stirling Youth Hostel; The Engine Shed.

Most of the Doors Open events take place this weekend but times are on www.doorsopend­ays. org.uk.

The festival is coordinate­d by the Scottish Civic Trust.
