Monzani Trio ready to put on a show at St Mary’s

St Mary’s Church in Aberfoyle is looking forwarding to a concert in the coming weeks featuring a group of talented friends.

The Monzani Trio comprises Lee Holland on flute, violinist Rachel Spencer and cellist Feargus Egan.

It is a new partnershi­p and the three pals are all successful performers in their own right. They who have a passion for chamber music and an interest in exploring the diverse repertoire of their instrument­s.

They will be in concert at the church on October 21 at 3pm with a programme including: Joseph Haydn, London Trios Hob. IV: 1-4; James Oswald, Sonata of Scots Songs; Béla Bartók, Roumainian Folk Dances; Eddie McGuire, Four Dorset Folk Songs; and Eugene Walckiers, Grand Trio, Opus 35.

Lee studied at the Purcell School of Music in Hertfordsh­ire and subsequent­ly at the Royal Conservato­ire of Scotland. During her studies, Lee won numerous competitio­ns and scholarshi­ps and is currently a freelance orchestral player with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra of Scottish Opera.

Rachel enjoys a wide-ranging freelance career as a soloist and chamber musician. She studied at the Royal Conservato­ire of Scotland and subsequent­ly at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

In addition to winning the major prizes and scholarshi­ps during her studies, in 2011 Rachel was selected as a Young Artist in Residence at the Royal Conservato­ire of Scotland.

She has appeared at festivals across Europe and on broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio London. As an orchestral player, she performs regularly with the BBC Scottish Symphony, Scottish Chamber and Royal Scottish National Orchestras.

Feargus graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2012. In 2011 he graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with first class honours. He was formerly a member of the Arbellio string quartet, winning the Helen Just and Susan Connell prizes at the RCM.

He has performed at festivals in Cougain, France and Zeist, the Netherland­s and currently pursues a freelance career where he teaches and performs regularly with orchestras including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
