New CCTV clue as family keep up search for missing Brian
Images are released one year after disappearance
Police have released new CCTV images of a Stirlingshire man on the first anniversary of his disappearance.
Efforts are continuing to trace Brian McGowan, 43, who was last seen in the Gillespie Terrace area of Plean on Thursday afternoon, September 21, 2017.
Hopes were raised after a possible sighting of him in the Gallamuir Drive area a day later, in the early hours of Friday, September 22, 2017, but he has not been heard from since.
The fresh CCTV images show pictures of Brian outside the Euro Spices takeaway in Carey Court, Plean , around 11pm on the night he was last seen.
Officers involved in the probe are concerned for Brian’s welfare and eager for any information that may lead to his whereabouts.
Brian is described as white, 5 ft 10 ins, slim build with short brown hair. He speaks with a local accent and has blue eyes and tattoos on his fingers.
When he was last seen he was wearing light grey tracksuit bottoms with black stripes, a black Nike baseball cap, black and grey trainers and a black G-Star jacket.
Inspector Anton Stephenson of Stirling Police Station said: “We have carried out extensive inquiries to try to trace Brian but had no new sightings and no new information as to his whereabouts.
“His family has now seen a whole year pass without him and we want to locate Brian so they can have answers. If Brian sees this appeal, I would like to say to him that we and his loved ones are concerned for him but we just want to ensure he is safe and well.”
In May, Brian’s dad John, who lives in Causewayhead with his wife Sandra, told the Observer the family were desperate for answers about his whereabout.
“Brian had a bit of a fallout with his partner and there was a bit of tension beforehand but we think it had all sorted itself out before he went missing,” said John.
“He was at the house on the day but he must have left at some point.
“We’re told he ended up in the chip shop and he might have had a drink.
“The last sighting was of him chapping doors in Gallamuir Drive late at night — we think he tried one or two doors.
“His fiancée contacted the police when we hadn’t heard from him and there was a massive search of Plean.
“The dogs and helicopters were out but they couldn’t find anything.”
Police are reissuing a poster in the Stirling area and would appeal for anyone with information on Brian’s whereabouts to call 101 quoting reference 2186 of September 22, 2017.
