Meeting hijacked by health board

Stirling Observer - - READERS’ PICTURES -

As a GP in rural Stirlingshire, I am concerned at the way in which my fellow GPs at Aberfoyle and Buchlyvie surgeries are being treated.

I have read and heard the press releases by the health board to the newspapers and radio stations – none of which has been discussed with the GP practice, which has always been the protocol –and each of them has contained clear inaccuracies.

Also the cluster meeting at which options were to be discussed regarding the funding released was hijacked by the health board, namely Dr Stuart Cumming, associate medical director of the health board and GP partner at Killearn Health Centre, who had discussions with my GP colleagues from Balfron and Strathblane before the cluster meeting.

He clearly has a conflict of interest in these matters and surely must remove himself from the process before it is brought into disrepute.

The practices in the area have always worked well together and there is no excuse for this sort of treatment of GP colleagues who are working through incredibly difficult circumstances that are not of their making.
