Runners do club proud in Road Relay

shouldered first stage responsibi­lity, covering the 6km course in 19 minutes exactly, bringing the Central team through in 56th place out of 76.

Scott Brember then recorded 19min 23secs on the second leg, moving the team up to 52nd place of the 76 contenders.

Scott Green picked up the third leg challenge and showed his recent training was paying off with an 18.17s clocking to pull the Central team up to 44th.

Lewis made up six more places with his 18.50 leg and the penultimat­e leg saw Conan 18.24 take Central up to 30th.

Michael ran 19.03 for 29th and a club time of 1.52.57.

Overall there was a first ever win for Stockport Harriers (1.45.07) – the team coming through from 10th on the first leg and their top athlete Ross Millington proving to be the fastest runner on the day with an excellent 16.54 effort.

There were a number of fine performanc­es by Central Athletic Club runners in the recent Great Scottish Half Marathon held in Glasgow.

With the race again doubling up as the Scottish Athletics Half Marathon Championsh­ips, Michael Wright was the first Central athlete home, clocking an impressive 70min 34secs for 12th place.

It was Scott Brember, however, who made his own headlines in 20th overall with 71.41 as he won the Masters (Over 40) Scottish title.

Lewis Millar also impressed and finished in 28th with a fine 72.26 time.
