Dam finally burst on under-strength Strathendrick

Endrick faced a manpower crisis for Saturday’s Tennent’s West Division 1 match at Lochshore.
The 2nd XV match had to be cancelled with a number of them promoted and even then they could only muster a squad of 15. To make matters worse, one of their number was delayed so that they played a man short for the first quarter of an hour.
The fact that they managed to reach the interval at 10-10 before conceding six tries in the second half - three in the first 15 minutes and three in the last 10 - is to their credit but they were always up against it.
Endrick actually went in front after 14 minutes when Garnock were caught offside and Sam Greenock kicked the penalty for a 3-0 lead.
They were ahead for only three minutes, a fine combined move by Garnock ending with Jared Reekie scoring out wide for an unconverted try.
The sides were well matched in an entertaining game and in the closing minutes Garnock’s Luke Wynn barged over for an uncoverted try before a counter-attack by Endrick from their own 22 took the backs the length of the pitch for Craig Mundell to go over at the posts, leaving Sam Greenock with an easy kick.
That tied the score at the end of a well contested first half.
Endrick were brought back to earth in the first 15 minutes of the second half as Garnock scored three tries: Rory Dominy in 42 minutes, Jared Reekie in 45 and Dominy again in 55. All three were converted to give Garnock a 31-10 lead.
Adding insult to an obvious injury they were again reduced to 14 men when James Ogilvy had to hobble off.
Endrick battled on gamely and there was no further scoring until the match went into its final 10 minutes when the home side pressed home their advantage with three more tries.
Jared Reekie completed his hat-trick, Matt Shiells finished off a move by the pack and in the final minute Reekie scored again. Two conversions gave Garnock a resounding 50-10 win.
On Saturday both Endrick teams are away from home, playing their opposite numbers at Irvine. The matches kick off at 3pm.
