Stirling Observer

Doorstepped by Grim Reaper

-

Dear Editor

Stephen Kerr’s disgraceful defence of Universal Credit in last week’s Observer (October 24, 2018) will come back to haunt him.

His support for this deeply damaging policy which is causing so much hurt and devastation to his constituents is truly shameful.

Volunteers at a local foodbank compared a recent visit from him as being doorstepped by the Grim Reaper.

His unwavering support for Universal Credit comes on the back of his support for the Rape Clause and a hard Brexit. His recent incoherent rantings on Brexit were cringeworthy, highlighting again how far out of his depth he is.

From what I could see, Kerr did nothing to save the closure of RBS in Bannockburn. His party have slashed funding for subpostmasters, the consequences of which is resulting in the loss of Bannockburn Post Office.

He is also regularly seen out campaigning alongside a Tory councillor who admitted making vile, sectarian comments against Catholics.

Little wonder my ward was the only one not to return a Tory councillor. We have never forgotten the damage the Tories inflicted on our communities. I am now convinced Stephen Kerr is trying to emulate Maggie Thatcher given the trail of destruction he has caused since he was elected 18 months ago.

Alasdair MacPherson SNP Councillor Bannockburn Ward
