St Columba’s Church Sunday service at 11am will be led by Rev Alex Millar. Sunday, November 11 is Remembranc­e Sunday and the service will start at 10.45am. The formal act of remembranc­e is at 11am. At 7pm St Columba’s will be taking part in “The Battle’s Over” with the sounding of the ‘Last Post’ followed by the sounding of the church bell at 7.05pm for 10 minutes. This is part of the nation’s tribute to the fallen of the First World War. Mr Ross McGowan will give an organ recital on Sunday, November 18 at 3pm in aid of church funds. Requests for favourite pieces are invited from members of the congregati­on by Sunday, November 4. Rev Alex Millar will preach his last sermon before retiring on Sunday, November 25. Church of the Holy Rude It has been decided that joint services will continue until the end of December. Services on November 4 and 11 will be in Holy Rude and services and will be conducted by Rev Alan Miller. Services on November 21 and 28 will be in Viewfield. The service on November 11 will begin at 10.45am and the congregati­on is asked to be seated by 10.30am. Other services will begin at 11am. On Sunday a baptism will be celebrated and at the close of the service there will be a short communion in the St Andrew’s Chapel to which all are welcome. Stirling Kirks Together The monthly friendship lunch will be held on Monday, November 12 in St Columba’s Church Hall from noon1.30pm. The Church of Scotland HIV programme supports 18 different programmes in 14 different countries. In many churches, the nearest Sunday to December 1 is designated a HIV Souper Sunday but Stirling Kirks Together, through their Friendship Lunch on November 12, will raise funds for HIV then. All welcome, suggested donation £2.50. Allan Park South Church Service on Sunday is at 10.30am and will be led by Rev Mike Dawson. Tea and coffee downstairs after the service.
