Some Junior Section boys are off to the Glasgow Science Centre sleepover on Friday but others will meet as normal 6.30-8pm and Company Section is 7.45-10pm. On Saturday, November 3, BB Project Malawi is hosting its second whisky-tasting evening at the Braeport Centre at 7.30pm. Tickets are £20, which include five drams and an expert tour around Scotland’s best malts. On Sunday, November 4, a soup-and-sweet lunch is being held at the Cathedral Hall following the morning service at 11.45am. All welcome to join in and help the fundraisin­g to allow 17 young people from BB and GB to renovate classrooms in Malawi next summer. On Saturday, November 10, the Boys’ Brigade Band, in partnershi­p with the Regimental Band of the Black Watch Army Cadet Force, will host a Festival of Remembranc­e Concert to mark the 100th Anniversar­y of the end of WWI. The concert and Act of Remembranc­e will take place in Dunblane Cathedral, 7pm. Entry is free, with a retiring collection in aid of service charities. The event is supported by the Armed Forces Covenant Trust. All welcome. On Remembranc­e Day itself (November 11), the uniformed youth organisati­ons will be parading through Dunblane beginning at 9.40am from the Victoria Hall and finishing at The Cross in front of Dunblane Cathedral. Each organisati­on will issue its own instructio­ns about meeting times. The ceremony at the War Memorial will begin at 12.30pm sharp following the church services. Christian Aid in Dunblane New theology advisor Bob Kikuyu will host a morning discussion “Isn’t loving your neighbour enough?” on Saturday, November 3 at 10am in the cathedral hall. Through partner stories from around the world Bob will discuss why theology matters to Christian Aid and will highlight how we stand together with our global neighbours for dignity, equality and justice. This is an informal discussion with time for questions. Tea, coffee and homebaking will be provided. Dunblane Cathedral Midweek service takes place tomorrow (Thursday) at the usual time of 11am. All welcome to attend this short service in the choir area. On Saturday, November 3, the local Christian Aid committee has organised a meeting with Bob Kikuyu, the new theology advisor for Christian Aid. There will be an open discussion with Bob, entitled “Is loving your neighbour enough?” Tea, coffee and home-baking available. The Royal School of Church Music is holding a Singing Day in the cathedral on Saturday. This will conclude with a service at 4pm, to which all invited. Please gather in the choir area. Sunday worship is at the usual time of 10.30am. All groups of Cathedral Kids will meet. Following the service, members of the BB will serve soup and sweets in the hall, instead of tea and coffee. The Fairtrade stall will be open. At 3pm, Adrian Lucas, director of the Singing Day on Saturday, will give an organ recital of music by Bach, Stanley and others, with a Remembranc­e theme. Free admission. At 6.30pm, Prof David Fergusson returns to give a talk on the work of Craiglockh­art Hospital, Edinburgh. Here WWI soldiers were treated for shell shock. Prof Fergusson will also focus on the poetry produced by some of the patients. The meeting will take place in the Cathedral Hall. Revelation Youth meets in the halls at 7pm. On Monday, November 5, the Guild meets in the hall at 20pm for Paddy Games with Mr I Brown. Christmas fundraiser On Sunday, November 3, a fundraisin­g Christmas Market and Cafe in aid of the Glasgow Childrens Hospital Charity will take place in the Victoria Hall from 11am to 4pm. Entry is free and there will be 28 fantastic stalls with a wide range of great gift ideas.
