Bridge of Allan The final competitio­n of the 2018 season was played last Saturday when members and visitors competed in the Gents Winter Open, kindly sponsored this year by HK Wealth. It was a bitterly cold day, however some good scores were still returned. Best score was by James Cowie from Dollar whose net 64 won the Ronnie Sharp Trophy. Second place in the handicap section went to local player Phil Reid, who returned a net 65 with another Bridge of Allan player Tom Brodie claiming third place with his net 66. Winner of the scratch section was Scott Carlisle (Crow Wood) who retuned a gross 74 and second was Keith Thomson on 77. Winner of the closest to the pin prize was Cammy Turner (Tulliallan) and home player Keith Bath scored the only three at the first hole to win the bottle of malt. In the weekend’s gents’senior nine-hole Stableford Tony Jackson won the spoils with his 20 point total just pipping Ian Ainsworth on a countback. Third place went to Bob Buchanan on 17 points.

Stirling Ladies Following an enjoyable dinner and prizegivin­g in which teaching profession­al Heather Macrae was introduced to the 54 ladies who attended, a nine-hole closing competitio­n took place on Saturday with two teams of 12 playing a greensome format. The winning Team Lynsay won by an impressive five games to one.

Dunblane New There was a full house for the annual prizegivin­g on Saturday with trophies and vouchers presented to winning juniors, ladies, vets and gents. The Winter Ringer basic round can be played from last Saturday. On Sunday there will be a Winter Mixed Foursomes and players can enter on the sheet on the noticeboar­d. A monthly winter mixed will be played, subject to weather, on the first Sunday of each month until March with the number of holes played dependent on conditions on the day.
