Man’s body found in Hillfoots house
Told cops he murdered his girlfriend
A Tillicoultry man called police to tell them he had murdered his girlfriend before taking his life.
Police had found 35-year-old Lynn Forde’s body in a ground floor flat in Coatbridge on Sunday afternoon.
While tracing her boyfriend Phil Osborne, officers found the 36-year-old’s body at his dad Tony’s home in Tillicoultry’s Harviestoun Grove the following day.
They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder.
It is understood that 36-yearold Osborne lived near his dad with mum Pearl.
A marked police van sat outside his dad’s Harviestoun Grove house yesterday (Thursday).
Neighbours said they did not know the family well.
But a friend of the Osborne family, who did not wish to be named, said: “Phil always seemed like a friendly guy. He was a plumber and I’d heard the company he worked for recently went bust.”
One neighbour commented yesterday (Thursday): “Police have been there all week. Nobody knew what was happening. Officers haven’t been able to say anything.”
Another said: “I know Tony had been unwell, but I didn’t know the son at all. They kept themselves to themselves. It’s all been quite a shock.”
According to a police source the couple had been partners for some time, adding that they had received a call from Osborne in which he confessed to killing Lynn.
She had recently advertised a number of bridesmaid dresses for sale on social media with the comment: ‘Three times the bridesmaid but never the bride.’
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 3.55pm on Sunday, October 28 the body of a 35-yearold woman was found within with a property at Greenside Street, Coatbridge.
“This death is being treated as suspicious and officers were following a positive line of enquiry. Around 2.50pm on Monday, October 29, a 36-yearold man was found dead within an address in Tillicoultry. His death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“Enquiries are ongoing. A report will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal. Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death of the 35-year-old woman.”
