Boys’ Brigade to stage free concert

-

Dunblane Boys’Brigade is marking 100 years since the end of World War One with a special Festival of Remembrance concert this Saturday.

It takes place at Dunblane Cathedral at 7pm when their band will be joined by musicians from the Regimental Band of the Black Watch Army Cadet Force.

The free concert includes music, memories and poetry, and there will be a retiring collection in aid of two service charities – ABF The Soldiers’Charity and SSAFA.

Local uniformed organisations will be represented on the night and will take part in the Act of Remembrance.

Captain of 25th Stirling (Dunblane) Boys’Brigade Paul Christmas said:“In this important anniversary period marking 100 years since the Armistice, we are pleased to be helping the Dunblane community pay its respects to the soldiers and labourers of WWI through this musical evening.

“Our band members have been working very hard and all the boys have been researching the stories during our weekly meetings.”

Conductor of Dunblane Boys’ Brigade Band Fraser Boyd added:“It is a real privilege to work with two talented young bands who are keen to use their skills to pay a fantastic musical tribute to the men and women of past conflicts who have served their country and allowed our organisations to exist today. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the concert on Saturday.”
