DementiaDog Project’sdrop-in

-

The Dementia Dog Project is holding a drop-in information session in Stirling’s city centre later this month.

The project trains dementia assistance dogs for people who have an early-stage diagnosis but are still living at home with a full time carer.

Those interested in applying for a dog have the chance to attend the event to find out more about the project and meet the team.

It will also give them the chance to meet Hope, a black labrador who has recently completed her training and is now looking for a‘forever home’.

The project is a charitable collaboration between Alzheimer Scotland and Dogs for Good, and the first initiative of its type in the world to blend dementia specialist services with the provision of highly trained assistance dogs.

Dogs are trained in a variety of specialist tasks, from reminding someone to take their medication, to reducing anxiety and helping build confidence when out and about in the community.

The drop-in event takes place on November 20 from 10.30am-1pm at the Smith Art Gallery and Museum, 40 Albert Place, Stirling.

For more information and to book a place email Nadia Sutherland at nsutherland@alzscot.org or call 07771358843. If unable to attend but keen to register interest with the project email: bark@ dementiadog.org.
