FIRE IN THE SKY

-

Around 6500 people flocked to Bridge of Allan for the annual bonfire and fireworks spectacular.

The Games Park was the venue for the traditional Guy Fawkes night festivities, staged by Stirling and Bridge of Allan Round Table, on Monday evening.

Now in its 39th year, the event saw onlookers look to the skies in awe.

This year’s turnout was down on last year but last year’s show was held on a Sunday.

Round Table member Graeme Mair said:“We predicted that would be the case because it was a school night. That’s normal.

“We got decent weather for it. I know that Alloa Round Table had to postpone their display at the weekend but thankfully it stayed dry for our event.

“There were more portable toilets this year and there was better crowd management and parking available this year.”

Entertainment on the night was provided by tribute band Abba Revival.

“Abba aren’t my cup of tea normally but they were absolutely brilliant,”said Mr Mair.

“We are delighted with how the night went.”

Fireworks were set off to the soundtrack of The Greatest Showman.

Tablers say the event costs around £15,000 to stage each year, with all profits being split between a variety of groups.

Attention will now turn to next year’s 40th anniversary event, which they say will be bigger and better than ever.
