Having a blast in Strathyre

-

Around 200 villagers turned out for the second ever Strathyre fireworks display.

Balquhidder, Lochearnhead And Strathyre Community Trust’s Strathyre sub– group organised the traditional Guy Fawkes night festivities.

Residents were entertained by the colourful display which lit up the skies and also had the opportunity to indulge in tasty treats from stalls.

Attendance to the event was free with people simply asked to make donations towards the running costs of next year’s display.

BLS trust director Sarah Gibson said:“It was a great success. One of our committee members Emma Richards made all the stalls herself. The community comes together on the day to set this up and break down the next day; it’s a lot of hard work but definitely worth it.”

Businesses also supported the event and the total raised on the night was £1365.

Organisers now hope that over the next few years they will be able to raise enough money to donate to community projects including upkeep of Strathyre Village Hall.
