Marathon isracing backto Stirling
The Simplyhealth Great Stirling Run marathon will host the prestigious scottishathletics Marathon Championships again next April – for the second successive year.
April’s staging of the event saw them host the national championships for the first time in only the second year of full and half marathon events in Stirling, which are organised by The Great Run Company.
The Road Running and Cross Country Commission have taken the decision to give the event championship status for the second time.
Medals will be up for grabs for individuals and teams on Sunday, April 28 – runners with a valid scottishathletics membership will be eligible for those medals.
“We’re delighted that the Simplyhealth Great Stirling Run marathon will once again host the Scottish Marathon Championships,”said a Great Run spokesman.
“With Stirling also hosting the 10K championships and the upcoming Simplyhealth Great Stirling XCountry featuring the Scottish Inter District races, this really reinforces Stirling’s position at the heart of Scottish running.”
A new and improved course was used in 2018 which showcased the beautiful scenery and historic landmarks of central Scotland.
Central AC’s Michael Wright and Alison McGill of Fife AC took the Scottish marathon individual golds.
