Duo are bidding for top awards
An apprentice and apprentice instructor, both from Stirling, have been shortlisted for awards.
Logan Cameron is a finalist in the foundation apprenticeship category and Kenny Stewart is up for apprentice instructor of the year.
Logan, 18, joined the financial services firm Prudential as a foundation apprentice and has moved up to a modern apprentice and junior risk and controls analyst.
He says that he has become more confident since taking up the apprenticeship, and that the experience has helped build up his business skills.
Mr Stewart, 56, is a training manager at Stirling-based company FES and runs their apprenticeship academy.
He is responsible for around 150 apprenticeships and is passionate about the benefits that modern apprenticeships and ‘learning while earning’can bring.
The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards, which are organised by Skills Development Scotland, look to celebrate“the best apprentices and their employers”.
This is the first year that apprentice instructors will be recognised at the awards.
SDS director of national training programmes, Katie Hutton, said:“The calibre of this year’s finalists demonstrates again that apprenticeships are making a significant contribution to Scotland’s economy and companies across the country.”
Business MinisterJamie Hepburn said: “Apprenticeships are life-changing opportunities that provide young people with the opportunity to work and earn while achieving an industry recognised qualification to support their future career ambitions.
This year’s ceremony takes place at Perth Concert Hall tomorrow (Thursday).
