Stirling branch of RBS has relocated to a new city centre location.

The banking giant’s former premises at Pitt Terrace closed earlier this month and the new branch within the Thistles Centre opened at the weekend.

The bank is now situated by the Murray Place entrance of the Thistles Centre, in a unit formerly occupied by Costa.

In January this year the Observer reported that a total of 10 staff would be employed in the bank, which will operate from Monday to Saturday.

An RBS spokesperson said the move was a result of a decision to update and enhance its branch presence in the Stirling area.

The new bank opened earlier this week, whilst the branch at Bannockburn closed its doors for the final time on Monday.

Initially set to close in June, the Bannockburn branch was given a five–month reprieve by RBS in order to allow the newly opened Thistles Centre branch to be developed.

Friday’s Observer reported that RBS had renewed its lease on the Bannockburn branch until March, 2019 to allow the building to be decommissioned before vacating the premises.

Branches in Bridge of Allan and Dunblane were closed in June this year.

The recent closures come as part of a plan by the banking giant to axe 62 branches nationwide.

More than 2,000 people signed an online petition in a fight to keep the Bannockburn branch open.
