Milton bounce back from two down

-

Milton ................... 4 Dysart ................... 3

Milton came from two goals behind twice to seal their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Amateur Cup.

The Fife visitors led 2-0 and 3-1 but a brilliant second half performance saw Milton through.

The home side started the match well and Shaddick was unlucky not to open the scoring after only five minutes. In Dysart’s first foray up the park they shocked the home team by opening the scoring and three minutes later it was 2-0 when a long ball caught out the Milton rearguard.

The locals were up against it but surged forward looking for a goal that would bring them back into it and they had Dysart hemmed in but were leaving gaps at the back and McLeish had a brilliant save to deny them a third.

Mitchell and Harris were tearing down both flanks and finally Milton scored when Cooper bulleted a header into the net from a Roger corner kick.

Unbelievably the visitors scored a third moments later with a cross-cumshot that sailed over McLeish and although dominating the match Milton were now 3-1 down.

On the half-time whistle Roger narrowed the gap after great play from Mitchell and the second half was all Milton. Robertson went close twice and Shaddick had two efforts cleared off the line.

A goal had to come and it did when Mitchell sent in a fantastic cross. With a defender under pressure from Shaddick, he put it into his own net to make it 3-3.

Milton could smell victory, Shaddick smashed the ball off the crossbar and McGuckin had a netbound shot cleared before an Oxburgh header from a Roger corner won the day.

On Saturday Milton are at home to Colville Park in the West of Scotland Cup, kick-off 1.30pm.
