Council rewards volunteers
Two Cambusbarron youngsters have been awarded citizenship awards for their volunteer work.
Connel Laing and Niall Finlayson have jointly devoted over 1000 hours of work to groups in the community.
Most of Connel’s volunteering took place at Cambusbarron Library where he worked towards a Young Scot Award.
Niall, who also attended Stirling High, is a Special Olympian gold medalist and most of his volunteering comes from work in sport.
The awards were presented at the inaugural meeting of the new Cambusbarron Community Council.
Presenting the certificates were Councillor Neil Benny and Marion McAllister, chair of the community council.
A spokesperson for the community council said: “We are aware that too often we hear of the negative acts of young people and we want to highlight and reward the positive.”
