- Chris Marzella

Thieves swiped £2000 worth of matting from a Stirling Council base in Callander.

The authority’s yard at Lagrannoch Industrial Estate – which is used as a roads services depot – was broken into at around 9.30pm last Tuesday (November 27).

Twenty sheets of plastic matting, used by council vehicles to drive over turf without damaging it, worth £2000 were taken.

Three men cut a hole in a fence at the rear of the facility and loaded the sheets in to a white box van from CCTV footage from a neighbouring yard.

The van was later spotted heading south towards Doune.

A spokesperson for Stirling Council said: Police are investigating this incident and we would encourage any witnesses to come forward to help with their enquiries.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 101.
