Safetyof roadisa concern

-

The state of road markings on the A811 were so bad a councillor veered onto the wrong side of the road.

At a meeting of Stirling Council this week, Tory Forth and Endrick ward councillor Alistair Berrill admitted to the lapse, blaming the poor condition — and even absence — of the markings.

He said: “The white lining of the A811 in is in bad condition. It hasn’t improved.

“I was briefly on the wrong side of the road the other night because there are no lines down the sides or the middle of the road at parts.

“Can we go back to the service and prioritise this issue?”

Environment and housing convener Councillor Jim Thomson said: “Works are ongoing which will improve matters.”

In February, the council’s environment and housing committee heard of longstanding concerns over a 2.6km stretch, particularly at the three junctions in and out of Gargunnock from the main A811, which had sparked a petition signed by local residents.

The committee asked officers to investigate safety measures on the stretch between Gargunnock and Kippen.
