Quiz masters join forces to raise cash for good cause

with a disability in the Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmanna­nshire areas.

“We hope that these funds raised will help this deserving organisati­on continue their vital work in the local community.”

Held at the Birds and Bees pub in Stirling, the quiz saw 11 teams – from the university and Santander’s on-campus and city centre branches – battle it out for top spot.

After tackling a number of rounds – including music, books and Scottish landmarks – the trophy was lifted by Clueless Team.

Michael Hamill, of the university’s Santander branch, said:“The charity quiz night was a great event to be part of and a huge success. ”

Graham Harvey, branch coordinato­r at FVDS, thanked university staff and Santander for their support.

The Staff Charities Fund supports causes which offer help to people in the area, nationally, across the UK, and worldwide.

Each year, it donates around £15,000 to emergency appeals and to humanitari­an organisati­ons – such as the Strathcarr­on Hospice, Alzheimer Scotland, Macmillan Cancer Support, the Joliba Trust, Oxfam, UNICEF – and many more.

Stirling’s homeless charities are preparing for a busy couple of weeks as Christmas and the New Year approach.

Start Up Stirling will be supporting 300 people in the area over the festive period, with a third of those being children.

Part of their offering will be a full Christmas dinner, with all the trimmings, available through delivery and at the foodbank itself.

They will be running their ‘festive foodbanks’ up until Christmas Eve.

As well as the foodbank, the charity is running a rural delivery service to ensure that those living in the countrysid­e are treated equally.

For the third year in a row, their ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ scheme
