‘Super loo’ plea by MP

-

A ‘changing places’ facility is being considered for the proposed A9 service station near Kinbuck.

Stirling MP Stephen Kerr has been calling for an increase in the number of changing places, after a recent audit of councils identified only two in Stirling area.

The facilities are equipped to provide toilet, shower and changing facilities for those with severe disabilities and their families. Currently, in Stirling area, there are changing places available at Blair Drummond Safari Park and Macrobert Arts Centre.

A facility is planned for The Peak and McLaren Leisure Centre, Callander, is also working to have one installed.

To be fully accredited by PAMIS (Promoting A More Inclusive Society), the changing rooms must provide a level of equipment and meet minimum size specifications.

A planning application has been submitted to Stirling Council for a BP filling station, truck stop, restaurant, drive-through units and a hotel at Kinbuck.

Mr Kerr has urged developers to include a changing places facility in the designs for the new service station. He has been informed consideration would be given should outline permission be granted.

Mr Kerr said: “It is vitally important to raise this issue at the earliest possible stage in any proposal to give people time to try and include them in their plans.”
