She said: “It was a real labour of love. We put a lot of work into it and I even made a wooden deck­ing to go around the pump. For­tu­nately the deck­ing has only been scorched but it could’ve been a lot worse.

“It’s dis­ap­point­ing. It was for the kids to play with and they’ve had a lot of fun with it.

“We’ve re­ceived a few gen­er­ous grants to­wards the gar­den and it’s just a shame to see this type of thing hap­pen.

“We’d be grate­ful if all passers-by could watch out for any­one be­hav­ing in­ap­pro­pri­ately around the com­mu­nity cen­tre and please, re­port it to the po­lice.”

Last year a newly-built play­house at the cen­tre had its win­dows smashed just a day af­ter be­ing in­stalled.
