Opt Outside on a bike

-

Stirling’s bike sharing scheme is encouraging its customers to get moving and‘Opt Outside’this month as a way of keeping healthy and active during the winter months.

Nextbike’s #OptOutside campaign is an initiative to get Stirling residents spending more time outdoors and becoming more active.

To encourage users to brave the cooler temperatures, Nextbike is offering discounted annual memberships for just £40 until March 21.

Nextbike UK managing director, Krysia Solheim, said:“Although the weather is colder, there’s no hiding the huge health benefits that cycling can offer our customers.

“So many people want to improve their health and fitness, especially in January after overindulging at Christmas, but many can’t afford the gym budget and that’s where Nextbike comes in.

“We had recordbreaking rentals in every UK scheme this autumn, and we hope that trend will continue throughout the winter as people start to focus on their health and wellbeing.”

In Stirling last year, Nextbike customers clocked up 4,162 journeys and 6,659km between December and March.

Stephen Kerr was one of 10 Scottish Conservative MPs who last week penned a letter to the Times urging colleagues to back Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal.

The letter claimed a second referendum on leaving the European Union would only strengthen SNP plans for a second separatist vote.

Leave voter Mr Kerr has backed Mrs May and the deal she secured from Brussels although he said he was seeking assurances about some aspects of the blueprint.

Now , in the letter to the Times, he and the other Tory MPs , including Secretary of State for Scotland David Mundell, have stressed they and Parliament have a duty to deliver on the result of the EU referendum in 2016.

The letter states: `In recent weeks the calls for a second EU referendum have grown louder.

`To listen to those voices, ignore the views expressed in 2016 and ask people to think again would undermine trust in Parliament.

`It would undermine faith in the democratic principles by which this country abides and stroke terrible division – once again putting us all in
