Newway tobook rural transport

-

A new online booking system for a council–backed rural transport service has been launched.

Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) links rural areas where there are few or no conventional bus services. It’s hoped the new system will offer a more flexible way of booking journeys.

Convenor of the Environment and Housing Committee, Councillor Jim Thomson, said: “Residents will benefit through easier access to booking as a result of this investment.”

Forth and Endrick Councillor, Alistair Berrill, said: “I remain very concerned as there are a lot of people that do not have access to or feel confident using the internet and they will not be able to use the more flexible service. We must not create a two tier system that disadvantages those that are digitally excluded and that means access to a phone booking system that offers the same benefits.”
