Village is out on parade

-

Despite terrible weather forecasts earlier in the week the weather gods were kind to Kippen at the weekend.

Saturday stayed dry throughout for Kippen Street Fayre - at least until the skies opened at the end of the day.

The fayre’s king and queen were Michael Mulvany and Ailsa Adamson, accompanied by attendants Angus Anderson, William O’Farrell, Lily Bell and Aimee Johnston.

The street parade was led by village piper Murray O’May and two street performers from Urban Circus.

Children involved in the fancy dress competition and representatives from community groups also joined the parade.

Elsbeth Campbell, one of the organising committee, said: “Special thanks to community police officers who helped with traffic management on the day, the bands who provided entertainment (The Grand Boys and Jazz Pack), Kippen Cloggies who gave a demonstration of their fancy foot work and Struthers and Scott Vets for the fun dog show.

“A big thank you also to the many businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.”

The winners of this year’s fancy dress competition were: Pre-school - Kit Gooden (strongman) and Isla Stewart (popcorn seller); P1-3 Fraser Chamberlain (cannon) and Lucy Wilson (bearded lady); P4-5 Reece Crawford (strongman).

The winner of this year’s Kippen Street Fayre sausage roll competition was Fraser Chamberlain for his haggis -inspired recipe which was made by Skinner’s Butchers on the day for people to try. Runners-up were Freya Mackinnon, Lola and Harry Warttig and Archie McGregor Horsburgh.
