A right royal day of fun and pageantry
There was lots of fun to be had despite the weather at this year’s Cambusbarron gala day.
A total of 150 people turned out last Saturday for a variety of entertainment and pageantry at the annual day out.
The day kicked off with the community parade, which saw the Balaclava Pipe Band and the royal party make their way from the community centre to King George V Park.
Despite the intermittent rain, the village remained dry throughout the parade, with the crowning of the royals taking place on stage around midday, marking the opening of this year’s gala day.
This year’s gala queen was Chloe Watson, who was joined by gala king Alasdair Cornwallis.
There was also an ‘owl magic’ display, chair yoga, a ‘Think Dance’ performance from Cambusbarron Primary School,
Families enjoyed the day with a variety of stalls, with food provided by Michael R More and musical entertainment throughout the day by DJ CoCoLoCo.
Gala regular and local singer Olivia Conroy was on hand with another performance, and children sang, danced and had fun on stage.
The ladies at the Cambusbarron Church hall provided tea, coffee and cakes for the revellers on the day.
Cambusbarron Primary School had their own stall on the day, offering tickets for a raffle to win a handcrafted six-string electric guitar, crafted by one of the school’s parents.
Tickets for the raffle are still available, costing £1 and can be bought at Europa Music or at the school.
Stirling School of Rock have also donated four free lessons along with the guitar, and all proceeds from the raffle will go towards the school and nursery.
Organiser of the day, Melissa Nelson of Cambusbarron Community Events, said: “We wish to thank all that came and supported the gala on the day, help us set up and pack away.”
