Day was totally pants-tastic
The weather didn’t manage to dampen the spirits at the 2018 Cambusbarron Gala.
The day was kicked off with attendees gathering in the park at 1.45pm, with music from The Balaklava Pipes and Drums who led the parade through the village to the community centre.
Gala queen Salma Sheikh was presented with the Moira McPhate rose bowl and tiara, with gala laird Angus Park receiving a quaich and staff.
This was followed by the fancy dress judging with children from pre-school up to high school plus adults all being awarded prizes.
There were a host of colourful costumes for this year’s ‘Hero’ themed gala, with a host of superheroes, chocolate boxes and real life heroes including astronauts, sailors and Father Christmas.
There were also a variety of stalls open, with attendees enjoying a tea room, face painting, storytelling, children’s tombola, raffle, coconut shy. A competition also took place to see how many pairs of pants children could put on in a minute.
The ‘Gargunnock’s Got Talent’ contest saw the children showing their many skills and talents, with Rub Conroy winning first prize for her dancing.
Live music from band Heavy Load capped off the evening.
A spokesperson for the Gargunnock Gala Committee said: “The Gala Committee would like to thank everybody who played a part in the Gala, both on the day and beforehand, and everybody who came along to join in.
“It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves and spending time together. Gala Day is all about tradition and the community, and to see villagers, their families and friends from all generations come together was very special.”
