Sentence wait for court breach

-

A man lowered his trousers and injected himself with an unknown substance in Stirling city centre.

Bradley Marinello, of Quakerfield, Bannockburn, had been sentenced to a community payback order for the breach of the peace in Corn Exchange Road on October 18, 2018.

The 20-year-old had appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court last Wednesday however for breaching the CPO.

Marinello had previously admitted conducting himself in a disorderly manner in Corn Exchange Road. The 20-year-old had refused to stop injecting himself despite being asked to do so by police officers.

On Wednesday at Stirling Sheriff Court, Sheriff Christopher Shead was told by Marinello’s lawyer that his client had been sleeping rough in the Falkirk area after being liberated from a custodial sentence.

After that hostel accommodation had been found for him in Edinburgh.

Sheriff Shead noted a social work report before the court had recommended not imposing a community payback order.

He also noted that there had been“heavy social work input”in the matter, adding:“Here is a young man out of control. He’s only in control when he’s in custody.”

The sheriff said the social work report also stated that Marinello “would be of risk to the community.”

He described the report as“the most puzzling thing I have ever received.”

Marinello was“chaotic” and not engaging in any help, he added, but prison would not be a “constructive disposal.”

He deferred sentence until February 5 for Marinello to be of good behaviour and for a supplementary criminal justice social work report.
