Have your say on parking issues in Bridge of Allan

- ALASTAIR MCNEILL

Public consultation on parking in Bridge of Allan will take place in the town’s Royal Hotel this Tuesday, November 19, between 3pm and 8pm.

Residents’views are being sought on what should be done to alleviate parking problems in the town.

It will also provide an opportunity to learn about the process being undertaken to develop the community parking management plan (CPMP) for Bridge of Allan, and how Stirling Council will be working in partnership with the community throughout the process.

Earlier this year, the Council carried out surveys in Bridge of Allan car parks and certain streets to gather information on the use and capacity of parking in the area.

A Bridge of Allan CPMP Steering Group has already been set up, including representatives from Bridge of Allan Community Council, Stirling Area Access Panel, local elected members and Stirling Council officers.

Stirling Council’s chief operating officer, environment and infrastructure, Brian

Roberts said:“We are keen that the community are fully involved in the process of developing the parking plan for Bridge of Allan and we would encourage residents and business to come along to the event on Tuesday

19th to give their views.”

He said:“I have personally witnessed many examples of how the lack of sufficient and affordable parking at the university impacts on the parking capacity all over the town. Everyone agrees that something must be done but, so far, both the council and the university have not engaged properly or with enough determination to actually get it sorted.

“I cannot stress enough just how important it is for residents and businesses to attend and demonstrate the strength of feeling there is about this and the possible introduction of charges.”

If anyone is unable to attend, more information and a questionnaire will be available online at www.stirling.gov.uk/ bridgeofallanparking between November 19 and December 10.

Dunblane and Bridge of Allan Conservative councillor Douglas Dodds urged residents to attend the event.
