A85 to shut at night for repair work

-

Part of a key rural road will be shut to enable re-surfacing to be carried out next week.

The project on a half-mile stretch of the A85 east of Crianlarich gets underway on Monday and will take two nights to complete. Work will be carried out between 9pm and 7am each night.

Due to restricted road widths at the location, a road closure will be in place to ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as road users.

Vehicles will be escorted through the roadworks during set amnesty periods at 11pm, 1am, 3am and 5am.

Motorists are encouraged to arrive prior to these times to ensure they can get through the roadworks at those times.

The road will be open during the daytime, however a 30mph speed limit will be in place to ensure vehicles can safely pass over the temporary road surface.

Access for nearby residents will be maintained during the project and emergency services will be able to pass through the works at all times.

Commenting, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “This essential resurfacing project on this section of the A85 will greatly improve the condition and safety of the route in this area.

“We’ve taken steps to help minimise disruption as much as possible by carrying out the project overnight. Due to the narrow widths through this area, overnight road closures are essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists during this project.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience whilst we carry out these surfacing improvements and would encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and to allow extra time for travel.”
