County confident ofbeating Knights

-

Stirling County’s Super6 skipper Reyner Kennedy has said his side will go into the first home game against Southern Knights tomorrow with confidence.

Last Friday’s opening FOSROC match at Meggetland against Boroughmuir Bears saw County stun the Edinburgh side with two late tries for a 27-24 victory.

And in front of a busy Bridgehaugh stand, they will be looking to make two wins against a Southern Knights squad, smarting from defeat on their new 4G pitch at The Greenyards against Watsonians.

“There was a big focus on the opening match against Boroughmuir for us,” said Kennedy. “We had been working for about 10 or 11 weeks preparing for it and to get the win was great.”

The hooker led from the front, scoring the opening try – “I wasn’t that far out,” he admitted – and said that although they were behind at half-time, they were in control of possession and confident of coming back.

“Southern Knights will be gunning for us after losing the opening match,” added Kennedy, “but we’re confident.

“It’s our first home game, it’s Ladies Day at Bridgehaugh and we’re looking forward to it.

“Apart from the usual bumps and bruises, we came through last week’s game unscathed and we should have a full squad to pick from.”

It’s a double header for County fans with the Tennent’s National League Division 1 match between Stirling Wolves and Cartha Queen’s Park kicking off at 2pm to be followed at 4pm by the Super6 clash.
