Winter Wanderland has Top of the Town lit up

-

Stirling Top of the Town’s second annualWinterWanderland event took place earlier this month.

The event, whose theme was ‘Home and Hearth,’involved homes and businesses illuminating their windows with colourful, back-lit designs.

It was organised by Mercat Cross and City Centre Community Council.

Karen Bellingham-Baird, chairperson of the community council said:“We have now worked with Creative Stirling on a number of exciting inclusive projects which have been important in re-engaging with our community. We look forward to our next project together.”

Stirling artists were also invited to create pieces to display across the town as part of the event. David Galletly worked with Allan Park Primary children to create a design on the school’s windows. Rossita Bateman worked on the CodeBase design in Spittal Street.

Ruth Currie of Creative Stirling said:“I’m delighted that this year’s Window Wanderland event has meant so much to those taking part.

“Karen’s commitment to raising the creative identity of people from Mercat Cross motivates us to work hard to continue in our work to ensure arts, culture and heritage opportunities are available to anyone.”

Speaking at last Thursday’s meeting of the community Council, Ms Bellingham Baird said Winter Wanderland had cost £2362 to organise, well under the £4000 budget allocated by the community council for the event.

The council plans to present to the school, as a memento of their engagement with the project, books based on the Winter Wanderland Design produced by the pupils.

“We have already had another couple of businesses who have expressed an interest in getting involved next year,”added Karen.
