CHRISTMAS FAYRE

Alva Community Council is hosting a Christmas Fayre in the Cochrane Hall from noon to 3pm on Saturday, November 23, featuring an array of delightful stalls selling gifts and crafts from local groups and businesses. Entry is free. It is hoped that Santa and his elves may visit, there will be a grotto ready for him just in case. There will be festive music by the Sauchie Community Choir, singing by Alva Rainbows, face painting, tombola, etc, and a refreshmen­t area serving homemade soup, hot and cold drinks and cakes. Helpers/volunteers required at the cafe in Allan Church Community Hall every Monday 2pm- 3.45pm. If you can help in any way, just pop in for a tea/coffee and ask to speak to Olive or Margaret. This is a dementia friendly well-being community café, helping people and their carers with socialisin­g and activities. The cafe is open to all members of the community with or without ailments/conditions. There is dominoes, cards and musical bingo.

BANNOCKBUR­N HOUSE

Christmas Fayre will take place on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1. Free tickets are now available soon on Eventbrite and in local shops. Items required for the tombola at the Christmas Fayre. If you have anything that you would like to donate, please contact events@bannockbur­nhouse. scot. The masterplan for the house project has been confirmed and will be available to view at the Christmas Fayre. LADYWELL CHURCH

Coffee morning (tomorrow) from 10am-noon. All welcome. Craft Club meets tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm in the manse. New members welcome. Rev Iain Goring will lead the service on Sunday at 11.15am. MURRAYFIEL­D UF CHURCH

The Wednesday afternoon Connect Group meets today (November 20) at 2pm. Thanks to all who helped with the shoebox appeal for Operation Christmas Child. The boxes will be uplifted tomorrow (Thursday). Sunday’s service will be led by Robert Richard at 10.30am The welcome team is Ruth Newlands and Jessie Kemp; the offering team is Aileen Forsyth and Mary Spence. Even in their retirement, the former Post Office staff team proved too strong for their challenger­s in last week’s community quiz.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

The Bannockbur­n switch on is Friday, November 22 at 7pm outside the shops at Quakerfiel­d. There will be coffee/ tea/ hot chocolate and toasted marshmallo­ws available to buy from 6.15pm leading up to the grand switch on .There will be carol singing led by the local Brownies and Guides.

ALLAN CHURCH

Sunday’s s service at 11.15am will be led by Mr Iain Armstrong and Team 5 is on duty. Sunday school takes place in the church hall after the Children’s Address. Creche available. If you wish your child/children to attend please speak to Kirsty MacGowan (Sunday school superinten­dent). Coffee club is on Tuesdays from 10-11.30am in the church hall; £1.50 for coffee/tea and piece of home baking. COUNCILLOR’S SURGERY

Councillor Alison Laurie will be in the Crawford Hall on Monday, Novemebr 25 at 6.30pm. tonight (Wednesday) for the final time in the vestry at 7.30pm. The topic for discussion during the session is ‘Jewish Covenant versus Roman Empire’. This is a joint study group with St Saviour’s Episcopal Church. Men’s Speaker Group will meet tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm in the session room. The group will be joined by John Yellowlees, whose talk will be ‘The history of the local railway network’.

ST SAVIOUR’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

Work is ongoing on the roof, so please note that venues for our services have changed - Sundays 8am Eucharist in St Saviour’s Hall and 9.15am Sung Eucharist in Bridge of Allan Parish Church. Coffee/ tea served in St. Saviour’s Hall after the 9.15am service. Wednesday 11am Eucharist in St Saviour’s Hall - tea and coffee served after this quiet reflective service.
