Nursery kids are safe as houses
Nursery pupils in Killearn have been receiving advice on road safety.
CALA Homes (West) teamed up with Mulberry Bush nursery in Killearn to support Road Safety Week.
Nursery pupils were provided with road safety packs from the housebuilder, which included reflective kit for children to wear to help raise awareness about the need for drivers to look out for children as they travel to and from school.
Road Safety Week, a national initiative from leading charity Brake, started on Monday. It aims to inspire schools, organisations and communities to take action and promote life-saving messages as the nights get darker.
Mairi Clark, owner of Mulberry Bush Nursery, said:“Road safety is a really important topic for teachers, parents and pupils alike and it’s something as a nursery we promote throughout the year to ensure children are equipped with correct road safety knowledge from a young age.”
The housebuilder has outlined proposals for a development in Killearn which would transform the derelict old Killearn Hospital site into a residential area with around 89 new homes.
They say a significant effort has been placed on ensuring the development would be well connected to the village, including an outline safer routes to school active travel plan.
Andrew Duncan, land director at CALA Homes, said:“Both nursery staff and pupils were incredibly welcoming of CALA’s support and we hope that our efforts in promoting key road safety advice will translate into positive habits.”
CALA Homes (West) is currently liaising with Stirling Council on the submission of a planning application for its proposed Killearn development.
