Caley Marts sold 232 cattle comprising of 93 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls as well as 117 OTM cattle and 22 young calves and stirks.

Prime heifers topped at 242p pkg for a Limousin from A Pettigrew, Faskine, Airdrie purchased by D Campbell and Son, Butcher, Callander and to £1534 for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, Canonbie purchased by HA Black and Son, Butcher, Stirling.

Prime bullocks topped at 228p pkg for a Limousin from T Paul and Sons, Kinninmont­h, Kinglassie purchased by T Johnston, Butcher, Falkirk and to £1492 for a Limousin from Carrick Primestock, Lyon Park, Maybole purchased by HA Black and Sons.

Heifers per head - £1495 Lyon Park; £1478 and £1477 Brockwoodl­ees; £1452 and £1403 Brockwoodl­ees; £1393 Harelaw (MacKay). Heifers per kg - 228p Moorfield, Brockwoodl­ees and Learielaw; 225p Learielaw and Brockwoodl­ees; 222p Brockwoodl­ees; 220p Bankhead, Moorfield and Brockwoodl­ees.

Well fleshed OTMs averaged 130p selling to 154p pkg from C Colquhoun, Badyen, Cardross and to £1130 for a Limousin from A and K Farming, West Woodlane, Stirling. The overall average levelled out at 106p pkg again with many feeding types forward.

Other leading prices: Beef OTMs per head - £1120 West Woodlane; £990 Ormiston and Blairhall; £960 West Woodlane and Badyen. Beef OTMs per kg - 148p Jawpark; 140p West Woodlane; 138p Ormiston; 135p Jawpark.

With a larger show of dairy types forward, the average was 80p selling to 95p from RD Young, Waterside, Dunblane and to £740 from A Reid, Plean Farm, Plean.

Dairy cows per head - £680 Glen; £660 Plean; £650 Waterside.

Cast bulls sold to £1300 for a Limousin from JR MacGregor, Dyke, Milton of Campsie.

Also forward were 22 young calves and stirks at the fortnightl­y sale; once again beef bred calves were easy sold, black and whites were harder to cash. Topping the sale was a cracking Simmental Bull Calf from J Brisbane and Son, Gartclush Farm, Bannockbur­n fetching £250.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18

Caley Marts sold 935 store lambs, ewes and tups at their weekly sale.

All classes of lambs keenly bid for, and many more could have been sold to sellers’ advantage.

Top price of the day went Goldenlea Farmers, Gryffewrae­s Farm, Houston for a pen of Texel X Lambs at £78.

Feeding ewes were also keenly bid for, sold to a top of £76 for a pair of Texel

Crosses from W Patrick, Ballinkinr­ain.

Caley Marts sold 2349 prime lambs, ewes and tups.

All classes of lambs easier on the week with the overall average for 1912 sold being 178p (-8p on the week, +16p on the year).

Top price of the day went to Doune Farms, West Lundie for a cracking 46kg Beltex at £100. Top price per kg went to RA Campbell and Sons, Meikle Seggie for an outstandin­g 42kg Beltex at 226p pkg. Also forward were 438 cast ewes and tups. With less top end ewes forward, all classes of feeding ewes again met a dearer trade. Blackface ewes of all types currently selling very well with many selling in excess of £45. Many more could have been sold to sellers’ advantage.

Heavy ewes averaged £86.18 selling to £129 for Texels from FB Gauld, Standingfa­uld, Muthill. Light ewes averaged £55.25 selling to £62 for Blackfaces from R McNee, Woodend, Armadale. Cast rams sold to £116 for Texels from R Wardrop and Son, Easter Coates, Fife.
