Corbyn confirms fear

-

Dear Editor,

While I would agree that the televised debate between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn this week was not a gripping spectacle it did confirm a very basic fact that we should all be very aware of.

Jeremy Corbyn is so desperate to get into power that he will allow a second independence referendum to take place as a price for SNP support at Westminster. Mr Corbyn is reluctant to tell us if he would campaign for leave or remain in a second EU referendum that he wants us to have. I wonder what his position would be during another independence referendum?

You published a letter and comments in the Observer, November 15, 2019) regarding behaviour by cyclists that some people consider irresponsible, inconsiderate or improper.

I deliver training courses for cyclists and cycle awareness training for professional drivers and motoring instructors.

One of the complaints made by some of your corespondents is cyclists don’t use cycle lanes. This may be because they are keeping out of the `door danger zone’. Cyclists are advised in the Highway

Code and are trained to ride far enough from a parked car that if its door opens it will not hit them.

Another factor is that at this time of year cycle paths are rarely gritted. The gritted road is safer than the ungritted cycle path.

Another complaint concerned cyclists riding side-by- side even when roads are busy or they are going around corners. The Highway Code advises drivers not to overtake on a bend and to use the opposite
