The magnificen
Senior pupils from across Stirling were in fine tune last week as they came together for two concerts.
Organised by Stirling Council Instrumental Service, the events were held last week at the Albert Halls and in Balfron High School.
Around 250 pupils from all seven Stirling high schools showcased their musical talent.
Murray McNeish, from Wallace High School, got the Albert Halls programme underway with a fabulous bagpipe solo, which set the tone for the evening.
Pipers and drummers of the Stirling and District Pipe Band followed and did not disappoint
Lewis Frame, Wallace High, and Emma Gracie and Jessica Francis, Dunblane High and the choir sang a beautiful selection including Canticum Novum and an arrangement of the song, Some Nights, by the band Fun.
The largest group of the evening was the 72-strong wind band whose performance included a percussion feature Djembe Laya and finished with an arrangement of Take on Me which proved very popular with the band and the audience alike.
Members of the youth orchestra, sounding great under their guest conductor Tom Smith, gave a rousing performance of the Grand March from Aida, featuring the trumpet section.
And the String Orchestra had a
Flautists Eve Tarvit and Emily Khan,
Balfron High varied programme from Bach, via the Beatles, to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.Their challenging programme was much enjoyed.
Members of the audience were jigging in their seats to the guitar ensemble’s performance of the Mexican Hat Dance and La Bamba.
