Care charity staff praised for their ‘amazing’ work

-

A Stirling-based team from a care charity has scored top marks for the sixth year running following a recent inspection.

Sue Ryder HomeCare Stirling was visited by members of the Care Inspectorate in September.

The quality of care and support and management and leadership was judged excellent (Grade 6).

Thirty-two care service questionnaires from people using the service were submitted to the inspectors who also spoke to four others during home visits.

People spoke highly of the quality of care they received. However, some expressed dissatisfaction regarding times of visits and the number of carers providing their care.

The home care service, based at Maxwell Place, supports people across Stirling, Falkirk, Perth and Clackmannanshire.

Lorraine Linton, operation and development director of Sue Ryder, said: “This latest report ... is an amazing result for the HomeCare team, who daily face all sorts of environments and conditions with a smile on their face. They work tirelessly to ensure that every one of the two hundred and fifty people they visit each week feels comfortable in their own home and empowered to live as fulfilling a life as possible.”

Following the inspection, Stirling SNP MSP Bruce Crawford met with staff members and clients being supported by the service.

Mr Crawford said:“The HomeCare Stirling team carry out some amazing work in our community and are a credit to the area. I’m delighted that their hard work and commitment has paid off and been reflected not only in this latest inspection report but throughout the last six years.”

Homecare Stirling client, John MacInnes, from Dunblane said:“My wife, Isobel has dementia and we’ve been relying on the help of the Stirling Homecare team for the last two years. If it wasn’t for their exceptional care I wouldn’t be able to go to work, since carers look after Isobel while I’m out.

“Their support has been invaluable to us both, allowing Isobel to maintain a good quality of life and me to do something for myself, while caring for Isobel. The team really are fantastic and absolutely deserve full marks for their work.”

The Stirling based service, established in 2010, provides care at home to people living with conditions such as stroke, dementia and multiple sclerosis plus those who need support at the end of their lives.
