£10k festive fundraiser
Dear Editor I would like to express gratitude on behalf of Rotary Club of Carse of Stirling, in relation to our recent Santa’s Sleigh.
Thanks are due to a number of people and organisations, who helped us raise a fantastic total of more than £10,000. These funds will be used to help local children by supporting our annual Kids Out Day at Bridgehaugh Park.
Firstly, thanks must go to the people of Stirling and Bannockburn for their generous donations, and for turning out in large numbers to see Santa throughout the local area. Having said that, the jolly chap in red wouldn’t have been able to get around were it not for Pentland Jaguar Land Rover, who very kindly provided the sleigh’s tow vehicle. Local supermarkets Tesco and Morrisons graciously allowed us to collect outside their premises, and this had a significant effect on our total. We were also fortunate enough to have collaborated with several great businesses in the local area, including Dobbies, Kilgannon Motors, The Linden Inn and Little Stars Nursery.
I would also like to highlight the sacrifice made by volunteers who made the sleigh runs possible. A number of Rotarians, their friends and families, members of Prudential staff and riders from Craigforth Cycling Club all gave up their valuable time.
At the helm and co-ordinating all the events was Rotarian Alistair Plank, who did a fine job. Final thanks are due to the Kings Park family who provided much-appreciated sustenance to volunteers and to the Stirling Observer for publishing event dates.
Once again, my sincere gratitude to everyone involved.
