Homecoming gig for touring bluesman Dave

-

Blues troubadour Dave Arcari will play a homecoming gig in west Stirlingshire next month following a hectic 2019 touring schedule which took in the US West Coast for the first time.

The East Loch Lomond based guitarist will return to Milton of Buchanan’s Memorial Hall – the location of his 2017 live double album – on Saturday, February 1.

Dave said this week: “I can’t wait. I really love the Memorial Hall – it’s kinda old-school with a nice stage and it’s a great sounding room.

“It was the obvious venue to record my live album. I get a lot of support from folks in the area and a lot of people travel from around Scotland, down south and even Europe to the shows there as they’re keen to experience a show on my home ground.

“I generally do one show a year at the hall and try to make it a little different each time, both in presentation and my choice of special guest to open the show.”

This year Dave’s special guest is pal JonZip, frontman of Glasgow punk band The Zips, who will play a rare solo acoustic set.

Dave’s latest release Brexit Blues looks at the current political climate in the UK and abroad and showcases a mellower side to his song-writing and performance.

He said: “I’m not really a political animal – and not one to make my thoughts public. The song is neither pro- nor anti-Brexit.

“It’s more an observation of the onging drama surrounding Brexit and many other political situations in the world.”

Dave is planning more live shows for 2020 along with spending some time in the studio writing new material. He has a handful of gigs in England in April and May before a tour of Finland in June, returning to the United States taking in the Midwest and the South.

Last year he visited the USA on three occasions – including the West Coast in January which was the first time he had played there.

There were handful of shows in California – at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Morro Bay, downtown LA and at Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace at the edge of Joshua Tree National Park.

In July and August he toured for eight weeks from Colorado to the West Coast and back and in October he spent two weeks touring the east coast finishing up in Manhattan.

He added: “I also played a bunch of shows in Belgium and the Netherlands through April and the latter half of May gigs in Estonia and Finland.

“These tours, plus UK shows including the Lindisfarne Festival and Orkney Blues Festival, meant I was on the road for a good four or five months in 2019.”
