Pair made deputy lieutenants
A pair of Stirling residents have been named as the latest deputy lieutenants for the region.
The prestigious roles, which help assist with award nominations and civic events for the Lord Lieutenant on behalf of the Queen, have been given to Charlie Wallace and Wendy Scott.
Mr Wallace is a former army colonel and has a distinguished 35 year career in the Army behind him, including operational service in conflicts in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan with his service in Helmand province seeing him given the US Bronze Star.
He was also selected for the role of Scottish Veterans Commissioner in September 2018, alongside a number of other positions such as chairman of the Scottish Veterans Fund Panel and the Highland and Lowland Brigades Club.
Mr Wallace and his family moved to their home in Blairdrummond in 2011 ahead of the end of his military career in 2018, with his last formal appointment in the army as Deputy Commander of 51st Infantry Brigade and HQ Scotland based in Stirling.
Ms Scott is another well-known face in the area, having moved to Plean in 1996 after completing a career change from IT to conservation issues.
At present, Wendy - who moved from Northern Ireland to Scotland in 1989 - has a self-catering cottage which runs alongside the family’s wholesale plant nursery.
She has an active voluntary life, serving as treasurer for Friends of Plean Country Park and the Forth Carriage Driving Group (Riding for Disabled) based in Carronshore.
Both Charlie and Wendy wil now take up roles as part of the team supporting Lord Lieutenant for Stirling and Falkirk, Alan Simpson.
