Drugs seized in Fallin raid

Cops swooped as part of crackdown

- CHRIS MARZELLA

Cops are cracking down on drug use and anti-social behaviour in Fallin and Cowie.

Officers launched Operation Headship in the two villages in response to concerned calls from residents.

The operation was launched in Fallin on Monday and cops focused on Hawthorn Crescent, King Street, Stirling Road and Hilton Terrace.

As part of the operation, they carried out a drugs raid in Fallin and police say a quantity of drugs was seized. The amount and type of drugs has not been confirmed.

Uniformed officers are now patrolling the streets, delivering anti-social behaviour leaflets and Crimestoppers contact cards and speaking to residents.

As part of the crackdown, police were due to continue the operation Cowie yesterday (Tuesday), focusing on Armour Avenue, Brig o’ Doon Grove, Alloway Drive and Tam o’ Shanter Drive.

After the initial two days, local ward officers Lara Elder and Steven Haldane are then set to continue to carry out patrols within the villages with the support of their colleagues to deal with anti-social behaviour, drug misuse and any other criminal activity whilst reassuring local residents.

Bannockburn ward councillor Alasdair MacPherson said: “It takes the behaviour of a small number of individuals to cause misery for people living around them.

“I’ve been calling for an initiative such as this for some time and it’s good to see some action in the area. I look forward to hearing more about the progress that Operation Headship makes in addressing the concerns of some people in the Fallin and Cowie communities.”

Stirling SNP MP, Alyn Smith, welcomed the operation.

He said: “These are good, proactive steps from Police Scotland, and I hope it will bring some reassurance to residents in the area.

“People should be aware that the police are continuing to work round the clock to protect communities, and they should report any concerns they may have to 101 or to 999 in an emergency.”
