Workshop to be meat store
A builder’s yard workshop in Bridge of Allan looks set to be turned into a storage facility for a local restaurant.
Stirling Council planners have granted conditional approval to James Marshal for the change of use to the workshop at 4 Inverallan Road including putting in new windows.
It is thought the renovated facility will then be used by neighbouring restaurant The Grill at HW (Highland Wagyu) to store beef and food and for its home delivery service.
In their decision, the planners said:“The refurbishment works involve improving the appearance of the building and forming new fenestration for light and ventilation purposes, the removal of high-level windows and the formation of new windows in connection with the proposed offices at ground floor level.
“The proposal does not involve the enlargement of the existing building. The existing vehicular access arrangements, which is via Inverallan Road, are to be retained as part of the proposals.
“The tenant will employ three people in the storage building and deliveries (in and out) will be daily via transit van. Car parking is in the yard to the front of the building. There is no access for visitors or members of the public.
“The proposed use is for the storage of beef and food associated with the adjacent restaurant. This falls within class 6, storage and distribution, which allows for a wide range of storage and distribution activity which require consideration of parking provision, operating hours and noise issues. A restriction to allow the premises to be used for the storage of beef and all other food is therefore considered appropriate in this case.”
