A breezy week - but sunshine set to return
It was a chilly past week especially in the wind as most days had a brisk breeze with a maximum wind speed of 29mph.
Daily temperatures struggled to climb above the mid-teens with a maximum temperature last Thursday of 15.9 Centigrade which was also the day we recorded our coldest temperature so far this month dropping to -0.8 Centigrade in the early morning. Despite a few spells of light rain it was a relatively dry week with only 5.33mm of rainfall.
The maximum daily rainfall was 3.05mm on Sunday, May 10.
Wind speeds reached 29mph on Saturday, May 16.
Looking at the week ahead, the temperature will rise on some days over the coming week, especially on Wednesday, but that won’t necessarily mean settled sunny weather for the rest of the week. A mixed bag of weather lies ahead with settled conditions midweek giving way to wetter and windier conditions at the end of the week and to start the weekend.
Fortunately though as we head towards and into next week settled and sunnier conditions look like returning. High temperatures will range from 14-21 Centigrade.
The earliest sunrise will be at 4.43am with the latest sunset at 9.42pm.
Did You know? – It’s been a breezy past few weeks and our highest recorded wind speed for May in the last 11 years is 36.8mph in 2016. Possibly later this week though that May record could come under threat.
