Little bags of kindness Special packs for Raploch families

-

Children in Raploch were full of smiles as they received some welcome gifts from community activists recently.

Raploch Community Partnership has been working closely with local partners to respond to local needs in light of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Communities have mobilised and are actively volunteering to meet a surge in demand for the partnership’s community-led regeneration services.

This has included delivering a range of “kindness packs” to keep the spirits up of local families whose usual support mechanisms have changed during the Covid 19 pandemic.

The initial packs, delivered in Raploch, were funded via the organisation’s own fundraising efforts and a kind donation from Raploch Community Council. There has been an overwhelming response to the packs and they are now being rolled out to other priority areas in Stirling.

Executive director Janette Mitchell said: “Raploch Community Partnership were delighted to receive additional support from both The Wellbeing Fund and National Lottery Award for All to deliver more of the kindness packs, and other support services, across areas in need in Stirling.”

Connect Project coordinator Marie Urquhart added: “We know now, more than ever, how much people are feeling disconnected and whilst we already delivered award winning services to tackle loneliness and social isolation, Covid 19 has meant we have had to adapt.

“These packs have sprinkled some joy across the area, letting people know help is available.

“We would encourage people who need us to get in touch. We may be all working from home, but we are here and happy to help.”

One parent who thanked them for the delivery of the kindness packs said: “The kids were super excited and it was great to see Amanda (early years officer) as we are missing the Twinkle Stars group.”

Raploch Community Partnership are members of the local Third Sector Resilience Group and are working hard to minimise overlap and duplication of services by providers, whilst making sure services reach those most in need.

Families who may benefit from the packs or their support can get in touch via Facebook: Raploch Community Partnership or Twitter: @RaplochCorner. They can also email: kindnesspack4u@ gmail.com.
