House is to be rebuilt
A house in Cambuskenneth is to be demolished and a new one built in its place.
John and Susan McCallum applied to knock down the existing dorran-type house along with a garage and bedroom annex at 34 North Street and lodged a separate application to build a replacement home.
Stirling Council planners have now granted both proposals.
In their decision, the officials said: “The existing house does not contribute to the character of the Conservation Area and is therefore considered acceptable to be demolished. Although the proposed house is not of a traditional style for the area, the design would be an improvement upon the existing.
“The positioning of the proposed house, within a similar footprint to existing, is considered acceptable.
The front elevation of the proposed property will echo the three-bay wide style of the traditional cottages along North Street and will be single storey with accommodation within the roof.
“The windows and doors are proposed to be uPVC and the front door will be painted sage whilst the fascias, gutters and downpipes will also be white uPVC. Although uPVC is not usually considered appropriate for windows and doors within a Conservation Area, it is considered there will be a neutral impact on the Conservation Area since the windows and doors of the existing property are currently uPVC.
“The existing parking arrangements are to be retained and there will be no detrimental impact upon neighbouring properties in terms of privacy or loss of daylight since the proposed house shall sit within a similar footprint to the existing.”
