Tree of Life for FVR patients

Staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital have created a Tree of Life mural to remember all the patients they have cared for throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Tree of Life mural has been installed as a backdrop on a full-length window of ward A31 at the hospital in Larbert.

Around 100 green and amber leaves have been applied to the branches, green representing those who have recovered and returned home, amber remembering those who died.

Clinical ward manager Rosario Walshe said: “We wanted to dedicate this tree to all of the people who have been affected.”

It was an effort close to the hearts of many of those who took to social media to praise the idea.

Alison Scobbie said: “Such a thoughtful and caring thing to do. My mum was so well cared for here by such an amazing team, though sadly lost her fight against Covid on April 18. We will never forget the compassion shown to us all at a dreadful time.”

Fiona Grierson said: “A lovely touch from such caring people. My mum sadly passed away in A31 on April 5. Due to the circumstances we were not with her but I take some comfort that she was being cared for by such caring people.”

Lesley Curr said: “What a lovely thing to do. I was so well looked after when I was admitted to ward A31 in March with Covid. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart for everything that you did for me and all the others you helped. I’ll be forever thankful.”

And Sharon Shaw added: “Can’t thank you all enough for my mum’s care. She had a heart attack and Covid but with the aid of you angels she kicked its ass.

“Thank you all for her care and kindness, you guys are amazing.”
